Electra are a young, vibrant, all-female professional Electric String Trio based in Southampton, Hampshire. They fuse classical and contemporary sounds to create exciting entertainment for any event. The members have been performing together all over the UK and Europe as a string section for various artists as well as their own acoustic and electric string act. The girls have performed individually at events such as the MTV European Music Awards, the Royal Variety Performance, the Eurovision Song Contest as well as UK and European Festivals. Electra has performed at numerous weddings and private events as well as for companies such a Sunseeker at the Southampton Boat Show, Wave FM, Wessex Heartbeat, Lords Taverners Charity, The Cystic Fibrosis Autumn Ball, Dave Wellman Cancer Trust, St Marys Football Stadium, Cowes Yacht Haven and The Royal Ocean Racing Club (Isle of Wight) and The Venus Awards.  

Electra will usually perform one or two 20 minute show sets. The sets are performed on amplified electric strings with full backing track accompaniment. The set list consists of well known classics from the James Bond films such as Skyfall Live and Let Die, Thunderball and Goldfinger as well as classic electric string pieces such as Karl Jenkins Palladio, Led Zeppelin – Kashmir, Robert Miles Children and Clean Bandit’s Rather Be. The performance is sure to add wow factor to any evening’s entertainment or promotional event! Electra will aso provide up to an hour’s background music for your event and can offer tailor-made packages for you.

What is a string trio comprised of?

Our String Trio is comprised of a violinist, a violist and a cellist    

What sort of events would we book you for?

Any! We say any event where you want something a bit different, want to add some glamour and contemporary music fused with classical. Therefore, our act is perfect for weddings, awards ceremonies, gala dinners, charity balls, private and corporate events.  We often are asked to play during a drinks reception, or before or after a dinner as a showcase.

Do you play classical instruments too?

Yes, we can provide an acoustic set for your event as well as the electric string trio. This set is perfect for background music, during a dinner or reception. The acoustic set is not amplified unless we perform the background set on the electric instruments.

What does our venue need to provide you?
 
We will require power for us to plug our equipment into.  We will also require adequate space to perform on. You will also need to provide us with a sound engineer and full PA system (often large venues have this as standard) or you will need to let us know that you do not have this and if so we will arrange for our own sound man with PA system  and lighting and will quote accordingly. In addition, if we are booked at the venue for over an hour – we would expect refreshments to be provided (soft drinks) and if we are at the venue for over 3 hours – some food would also be required.

What is your definition of a booking? 

A booking is based on time spent at a venue. Waiting time incurs an extra fee.

How far do you travel? 

We have travelled all over the UK and Europe, but we are mainly based in Southampton, Hampshire.   We can perform at any location but the further away it is, the more it will cost to take time and travel into account.

Do you have public liability insurance and is your equipment PAT Tested?

Yes each member of the trio has public liability insurance and/or are members of the Musicians Union which includes this insurance. The equipment has been PAT Tested.

Can you wear dresses/outfits to fit in with our theme/colour choice? 

Yes we can and we like to fit in with your event – please let us know on booking.  If we do not already own that particular colour outfit or style of outfit required we will have to take into account the expense of new outfits with our quotation.
